Solar Panel Cleaning In Eagle Mountain And Saratoga Springs
Purified water, soft brushes, no detergent. Utah dust and sprinkler spray build a film that quietly cuts your output every month you leave it.
Dirty Panels Make Less Power
Solar panels are glass, and glass in this valley collects dust, pollen, and hard water spray from sprinklers. The film is thin enough that it looks like nothing from the ground and it still blocks light. You paid for the array, so it may as well produce.
Utah Dust And Pollen
Open ground and constant wind in Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs means dust settles on everything, panels included.
Purified Water Only
Tap water dries into mineral spots on panel glass, which is the exact problem you are trying to fix. We use filtered water so it dries clear.
No Detergent, No Abrasives
Soap leaves residue that attracts more dust. Abrasive pads scratch the anti reflective coating permanently. Neither belongs on an array.
Sprinkler Overspray
Ground mount arrays and low roofs catch sprinkler water, and Utah hard water leaves the same mineral film it leaves on windows.
Warranty Safe Methods
Pressure washing a panel can breach the seals around the cells. Soft brush and low pressure is what keeps your warranty intact.
Residential And Commercial
Rooftop home arrays through commercial ground mount fields. Same method, different scale.
Home Arrays
Most residential systems here are rooftop. We work from the ground with water fed poles wherever we can, which is safer for us and keeps weight off your roof and panels.
Commercial Arrays
Larger arrays mean the losses add up faster, and a fraction of a percent across a big field is real money. We schedule around your operation and can document the work for your records.
How It Works
Four steps. The method matters more than the effort here, because panels are easy to damage.
Inspect The Array
We look at the panel type, the mounting, and the condition before any water goes on.
Rinse The Grit Off
Loose dust and grit rinse away first. Brushing dry panels is how you scratch the coating.
Soft Brush And Purified Water
Soft bristles and filtered water. No soap, no abrasives, no pressure washer.
Final Rinse
Purified water rinse so the panels dry clear with no mineral spots left behind.
Common Questions
Does cleaning solar panels actually increase output?
It can, and how much depends entirely on how dirty they were. A light dust film costs you a little. Heavy buildup, bird droppings, or hard water film costs more. Anyone who quotes you a specific percentage before looking at your array is guessing. We will tell you what we see.
How often should solar panels be cleaned in Utah?
Once or twice a year for most systems here. Open ground, wind, and no rain for months means dust accumulates. If your panels catch sprinkler overspray or you are near active construction, twice a year is the better call.
Will cleaning damage my panels or void the warranty?
Not the way we do it. Damage comes from pressure washers breaching seals, abrasive pads scratching the anti reflective coating, and detergents leaving residue. We use soft brushes, purified water, and no chemicals, which is what panel manufacturers actually recommend.
Why purified water instead of a hose?
Utah tap water is full of minerals. Spray it on glass, let it dry in the sun, and it leaves the same white spots you get on your windows. That film blocks light, so you would be trading dust for mineral haze. Purified water dries clear and leaves nothing behind.
Do you clean commercial solar arrays?
Yes. Rooftop, ground mount, and larger commercial fields. We are fully insured with $1 million in general liability, we can work around your operating hours, and we can document the service for your maintenance records.
Can I just clean them myself?
You can, and plenty of people do. The risks are the ones that cost money: getting on a roof, using tap water that leaves mineral film, and scrubbing dry panels with something abrasive. If you do it yourself, rinse first, use soft bristles, and skip the soap.
